Guayaquil is the city of Ecuador that changed the most over the last few years. It is not a must-see destination filled with culture, friendly people and a full set of activities, everything in a more than secure environment. Here is an example of what could be your journey with us:
After we check in at our hotel, let’s begin with a walking tour to explore the city’s many attractions. Our first stop is at the Iguana Park (exactly as advertised) where iguanas lounge in the sun under the watchful spires of the Cathedral.
Next we check out the outdoor architectural showpiece Malecón 2000. An ultra-modern boardwalk with exclusive shops and first-rate dinning that stretches 2.5 Km. along the Guayas riverfront. This is what you see in every picture of Guayaquil, and that means something.
Next up: MAAC. South America’s newest Museum and only IMAX for a little history and Galapagos preview and finally we will finish as the sun sets over the river at the top of Cerro Santa Ana for panoramic city views reminiscent of the Güell Park in Barcelona.

What a day! Culture, history and architecture with a healthy dose of shopping all in a year-round tropical climate.
Then spend a day visiting Cerro Blanco for a little bird watching in the morning and step to the Parque Histórico in the afternoon. Enjoy different kinds of wildlife like parrots, monkeys and a lot more. Then visit the colonial antique city and village’s house, as you discover a full diversity of vegetation. All topped off by an amazing dinner and the nocturnal distractions of Urdesa, a charming entertainment district.

What next? How about kayaking, historical tours, watching a football match or some serious shopping? And the best part is that Guayaquil is less than three hours from other exceptional Ecuadorian destinations including the Andean City of Cuenca and the pacific Rout of the Sun.
Make sure you don’t forget to have a walk by Las Penas, to enjoy its colourful buildings, architecture type and friendly people. Around this place is also some of the best bars and restaurants around town, so be sure to check it out.
Darwin’s iconic Galapagos Islands are only accessible via Guayaquil and the city’s sparkling new International Airport, christened July 2006.
This is just one of the many state-of-the-art tourist facilities that you will find in this modern city inhabited by some of the friendliest people in the world.
